Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo have been rivals dating all the way back to the early 2000s when all three companies were releasing consoles and games all at the same time. This created a healthy market for gaming since there was competition and the companies had to win consumers over with their quality games. However, its beginning to feel as if this rivalry is coming to an end. The days of “console exclusive games” might soon be over. The only reason I say this is because of one game in particular.

Halo: Campaign Evolved

A remake of the original Halo Combat Evolved was recently announced, and with it came some surprising news. Obviously the game will be released on Xbox Series X/S on day one, but it will also be released on the Playstation 5. This will be the first time a Halo game every makes it way onto a playstation console. Halo is the most iconic series to come out of the Xbox, and it was and still is one of the largest selling points for getting an Xbox console.

With the Campaign Evolved being released on a Playstation console, Xbox really doesn’t have any exclusive games left. This may seem like a bad thing, but over time Playstation has been slowly releasing their own games on Xbox. For example, for a whole year after its release Helldivers 2 players were begging Playstation to bring the game to Xbox consoles so xbox players could join the fight. They finally did release it on Xbox on August 26th 2025.

These small moves between companies may be a sign that the console wars are coming to an end. After years of rivalry, Playstation and Xbox may finally be ready to work together. As for Nintendo, they still continue to release exclusives on only their consoles and I doubt that’s going to change. Playstation and Xbox working together is a step in the right direction though.
